Many families will choose to paste wallcoverings when decorating, but wallcoverings are used in a large area. If you choose the wrong one, it will seriously affect the style of the entire home! So how can we choose the suitable wallcovering? Today, Xiaoxin will share with you the most practical tips for choosing wallcoverings~
Wallcovering selection rules
In the selection process of wallcovering, pay attention to four steps, namely, first look, second touch, third smell and fourth wipe:
(1) Look. We need to look at the density of the wallcovering to see if the lines of the wallcovering are closely connected. For wallcoverings with good texture, its longitude and latitude lines are relatively closely connected, and the light transmission effect is relatively good. We can use strong light to see its light transmission. If the light transmission is good, it means that the quality is poor and the density is low. Secondly, check whether the color of the surface of the wallcovering is uniform, whether there is color difference and color bleeding, whether the pattern is consistent, etc. Usually, the clearer the pattern, the better.
(2) Touch. When purchasing, consumers can feel its texture, craftsmanship and flexibility with their hands. Usually, the softer and more comfortable the hand feels, the better the quality and the stronger the flexibility. But don't think that the thicker the wallcovering, the better. This is incorrect. The quality of the wallcovering has nothing to do with the thickness.
(3) Smell. The environmental protection level of wallcoverings depends on the material, material grade, production process, etc. When purchasing wallcoverings, you must smell the smell of the wallcoverings with your nose. The real environmental protection wallcovering is tasteless, but the wallcovering made of inferior materials will have a pungent smell, so it is best not to buy it.
(4) Wipe. The purpose of this is to test the waterproof and antifouling properties of the wallcovering. Put a drop of water on the wallcovering to see if it will seep through. If it does not seep, it means that the waterproof and anti-fouling properties are better.
How to choose the material of wallcovering
The materials of seamless wallcoverings are mainly divided into flocking wallcoverings, silk wallcoverings, chemical fiber wallcoverings, yarn wallcoverings and woven wallcoverings.
Dyeing cloth, transfer printing cloth, and spray printing cloth are three types that are relatively similar. They have high color saturation, but the design and color are single and easy to fade. Although the price is very cheap, it is not recommended for pasting. Embroidery cloth has a strong three-dimensional effect, and the pattern is more prominent. But because it is embroidered by a machine, it will inevitably appear stiff, and the relevant embroidery thread will loosen after a long time. If you want to use it, it is recommended to stick it on a small area.
Yarn-dyed fabric is relatively special. The warp and weft threads must be dyed before weaving. The effect presented is more gorgeous and not easy to fade. The overall texture is smooth and full, but the price will be a little higher.
How to choose the color of the wallcovering
If the room has plenty of lighting and sunshine, the wallcovering can choose a cooler color, which is slightly neutral and has a better texture. But it is best not to choose a lot of reflective patterns, which will be very dazzling. If the light in the room is weak, you can choose wallcoverings in warm colors, such as beige, light pink, coffee, etc.
As far as specific colors are concerned, beige gray and brown will appear warmer and more natural; blue and green will appear more youthful and fashionable; light gray and white will appear cleaner and refreshing.
It is worth noting that in the process of selecting wallcoverings on site, do not lay the samples flat to look at them, but stand them up and place them in the doorway or window area at 3-5 meters before looking at them, so that the merchants can keep turning the pages for comparison. In order to observe the actual display effect.
How to choose the backing of wallcovering
Wallcoverings are generally divided into 3 types of composite substrates, including non-woven backing, hot glue backing and coated backing.
1 Non-woven backing: The quality is good or bad, the glue penetration is generally unstable, and it is prone to creases, but the cost is cheap.
2 Hot glue backing: better mildew resistance, suitable for use in the south, but it is difficult to guarantee air permeability.
3 Coated backing: It has strong anti-mildew and moisture-proof ability, good stability, and good performance, but the cost is relatively high.
All in all, choose according to your own decoration budget. If you have a budget, it is better to choose a wallcovering with a coated backing. If you want to be more environmentally friendly, you can choose a hot glue backing. If you have a general decoration budget, choose a non-woven backing.
