What should we do if the seamless wallcovering becomes 2022-11-08

The phenomenon of "orange peel" has existed for many years and is still one of the hot topics in the field of wallcovering. So in the end is the responsibility of the construction side or the quality of the wallcovering itself? Today we will reveal the secrets.

Part 01

What is the "orange peel" phenomenon?

After the wallcovering is pasted on the wall, the surface of the wallcovering is densely covered with tiny bumps, which look like orange peel, very uneven but the whole is relatively uniform, which is known as the phenomenon of "orange peel" in the industry.

Part 02

The principle of "orange peel" phenomenon

After non-woven fabric base wallcovering is on the wall, the non-woven fabric will absorb the water and glue mixture on the wall. When the glue is too thin and thick, the non-woven fabric will absorb more water than a certain degree. Later, during the drying process, the moisture in the non-woven fabric base volatilizes, causing drying shrinkage deformation and uneven cloth surface.

Part 03

The cause of the "orange peel" phenomenon

1、During construction, the consistency of glue and construction time directly affect whether "orange peel phenomenon " occurs. The thinner the glue is, the easier it is to produce "orange peel phenomenon".

2、The glue coating is too thick, so that the non -woven fabrics absorb too much water and glue mixture, and the drying time is slightly longer, resulting in "orange peel phenomenon".

Precautions: thick glue thin coating construction shall be carried out according to the thickness of non-woven fabric, thickness of non-woven fabric, thickness of cloth surface, moisture content of wall, indoor air humidity, etc.

3、The glue has not been "dry". The construction master is eager to rush the work. If the wallcovering is pasted too early, the non-woven fabric absorbs too much water and glue mixture, then "orange peel phenomenon" may occur.

Precautions: After the glue is applied, the construction shall be carried out when the glue surface is half dry.

4、The moisture content of the wall base course is too high (more than 8%), which causes the moisture volatilized from the wall base course after the construction of the wallcovering to be slowly absorbed by the non-woven fabric, and then dried to cause the non-woven fabric to shrink, thus pulling the fabric surface to deform.

5、The basement membrane is not completely dry. When the moisture content of the wall base course is lower than 8%, if the base film is not fully dried and the construction is carried out, because the drying time of the base film and glue is different, the moisture of the base film continues to slowly release and soften the dried glue when the glue has been dried, and some of the moisture is absorbed by non-woven fabrics. After drying, "orange peel phenomenon" may occur.

Precautions: Due to different construction environments, the drying time of the basement membrane varies, so the so-called theory that the basement membrane can be coated or constructed within 3-4 hours and 24 hours after brushing may not hold, and it is necessary to check whether the basement membrane is completely dry.

6、 The humidity of the indoor environment exceeds 85%, resulting in the wallcovering after construction for a long time in a humid environment cannot be dry (almost equivalent to non -woven fabrics in water and glue mixture), causing non -woven fabrics During the drying process, uneven force, which may cause "orange peel phenomenon".

Matters needing attention

The indoor air humidity should be measured before construction.

7、 Before the wallcovering is fully dried, windows are opened for ventilation, or air conditioners and fans are turned on, or dehumidification is carried out when the air humidity does not exceed 85%. These external forces will accelerate the evaporation of moisture in the wallcovering, resulting in uneven drying time, which may lead to the phenomenon of "orange peel".

Part 04

How to solve the "orange peel" phenomenon

Starting from the factors that cause the phenomenon of "orange peel", we can reduce or even avoid the phenomenon of "orange peel". The specific operation points are as follows

01 Identify the specific situation of non-woven cloth for the bottom wall in advance, and carry out targeted construction. Give special attention to the looser wallcovering of non -woven fabric.

02 Emphasize thick glue and thin coating.

03 According to the specific situation of the non-woven backing wallcovering, let the adhesive layer of the wall surface open for a certain time, and then paste the wallcovering on the wall when the adhesive layer surface is half dry.
